Code of Conduct

Introduction

This Code of Conduct is designed for Branch Baby Loss Network CIC to ensure that everyone involved in the organisation maintains the highest standards of integrity, compassion, and professionalism.

Purpose and Scope

This Code of Conduct outlines the expected standards of behaviour for all:

  • Directors, staff and volunteers and contractors associated with Branch Baby Loss Network CIC; and

  • Community members receiving peer support via Branch Baby Loss Network CIC; and

the need to follow guidelines to maintain safe, respectful spaces. 

It ensures that our interactions with community members, partners, and each other reflect our commitment to supporting those affected by baby loss. By committing to this code, we maintain the trust and safety of our community.

Core Behaviours

  • Integrity: We act honestly and transparently in all dealings, ensuring that our actions align with the mission of Branch Baby Loss Network CIC.

  • Respect and Compassion: We treat every individual with empathy, dignity, and respect, recognising the sensitive nature of the support we provide.

  • Safeguarding: We are committed to protecting all individuals we interact with, particularly vulnerable persons, and will strictly adhere to our safeguarding policies and procedures.

  • Professional Boundaries: We maintain clear professional boundaries, ensuring that communication and relationships remain focused on the support and services provided by the network.

  • Inclusion: We value diversity and seek to ensure that our activities are accessible and inclusive to all, regardless of background.

Responsibilities of Directors, staff and volunteers

  • Standards: All directors, staff and volunteers must uphold the values and core behaviours of Branch Baby Loss Network CIC at all times when representing the organisation. Directors, staff and volunteers must follow all required policies and procedures and complete mandatory training as outlined in our Safer Recruitment Policy in a timely manner. 

  • Confidentiality: Personal and sensitive information shared by community members must be handled with strict confidentiality and in accordance with data protection regulations.

  • Accountability: We acknowledge our role as representatives of Branch Baby Loss Network CIC and accept accountability for our actions and decisions.

  • Reporting: Any concerns regarding potential breaches of this Code of Conduct or safeguarding issues must be reported immediately through our established internal reporting procedures.

Responsibilities of contractors and partner organisations delivering services or activities in the name of Branch Baby Loss Network CIC

  • Contractors and partner organisations are expected to share and respect Branch Baby Loss Network CIC’s core behaviours (integrity, respect and compassion, safeguarding, professional boundaries, inclusion) and responsibilities (standards, confidentiality, accountability, reporting) even if they are not bound by the exact same Code of Conduct.

Expectations of community members

  • All members of the Branch Baby Loss Network CIC community are expected to uphold the core behaviours of Branch Baby Loss Network CIC and maintain the confidentiality of personal and sensitive information shared by community members. 

  • This means treating others with respect, maintaining confidentiality, avoiding harmful or discriminatory behaviour, and engaging in a way that supports a safe and inclusive environment. 

  • These expectations help ensure that the community interest of the CIC is protected for everyone who takes part in its activities.

Feedback and Complaints

We are committed to continuous improvement and take all feedback seriously. If a community member, donor, partner organisation or volunteer has a concern or wishes to raise an issue, they are encouraged to use our Feedback/Complaints Form, which is available here: Feedback/Complaints Form.

All complaints received will be treated with confidentiality, investigated fairly, and responded to in a timely manner, in line with our formal complaints procedure, which is available here: Complaints Procedure.
